Hotel generative engine optimization PILOT ROLLOUT
A managed hotel GEO service, with the method made clear.
ely's generative engine optimization is the AI-answers half of Visibility, in the pilot rollout: monthly checks on how your hotel shows up in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, with ranked recommendations our team works through with you. Your hotel follows progress, asks ely questions and reviews the factual changes our team makes.

In a working hotel
Managed GEO for real travel decisions
Illustrative ways destination and stay intent shape the question set and source work.
A regional stay without a car
ely's team could track questions about a Blue Mountains weekend, then improve verified transport, location and stay-experience information on the hotel's public pages.
A family beach stay in Cebu
The managed review could compare family-room recommendations and citations, then prepare a clearer room-fit page from arrangements and location facts the hotel confirms.
Under the hood
How questions, citations and hotel sources connect
The pilot cycle links what a traveller asks to what an answer says, which sources it uses and what the hotel can improve.
Where the boundary sits
AI platforms decide what they index, cite and recommend. Ordinary SEO foundations still apply; no special AI schema or text file guarantees inclusion, and ely cannot promise rankings, citations, traffic or bookings.
Pilot rollout
AI does the heavy lifting. Our team runs the work.
ely helps your hotel work towards being cited and recommended in AI answers. Our team manages the research, drafts and follow-through. You can see the work, review the hotel facts and talk to ely yourself whenever you want to understand a finding. These are discovery surfaces below, not partnership badges — the agreed review identifies which surfaces and test methods apply to your hotel.
What you actually receive
Useful work behind the words “hotel GEO”.
Generative engine optimization should give you more than a score. Each review should point to evidence your team can inspect and an action that makes sense for the hotel.
A map of the trips your hotel suits
Start with the destination, guest needs and reasons someone would choose your property. A family looking for connecting rooms asks a different question from a couple planning a quiet weekend. We agree the questions worth checking, including ones that do not already name your hotel.
An answer and citation review
Look at whether your hotel is named, recommended for the trip or supported by a source link. Keep the question, answer, source, date and test method together. A missed check is marked unavailable, not counted as a result against the hotel.
Specific content and source improvements
Turn the findings into useful work: a clearer room page, a well-supported location description, current dining information or a correction to a hotel-managed listing. We use facts your hotel can stand behind, not invented amenities, reviews or awards.
A progress report you can question
See what was checked, what changed and what still needs attention. Ask ely to explain a finding or show the source behind it. Repeated observations help us decide the next piece of work; they do not turn one favourable answer into a guaranteed stream of bookings.
| Date | Status | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| 12 Aug | Named, not recommended | 2 sources · 0 hotel-controlled |
| 3 Sep | Recommended | 3 sources · cites yourhotel.com/rooms/ |
- 1What changed since the 12 Aug check: named only, no recommendation, no hotel-controlled source → recommended, with a hotel-controlled source cited.
Understand what changes
What makes a hotel easier for AI to cite?
Think about the information behind a recommendation. Can someone verify where the hotel is, what the stay is like and why it fits the trip? The work starts there.
Make the property specific.
“A perfect escape” could describe almost any hotel. Verified room arrangements, location details, facilities and stay policies give a traveller something useful to compare. Give each important topic a clear home on the website, with an answer that stands on its own.
For a family stay, explain the actual room layout. For an airport stopover, describe confirmed transport options. Avoid guessing about accessibility, driving times or what is included in a rate.
Connect the public sources.
The website is not the only place a hotel appears. Check the hotel's name, location and important details across its own pages and the listings it manages. When a review identifies a relevant third-party source, distinguish what the hotel can correct from what only that publisher controls.
Do not manufacture reviews or try to plant hidden instructions for AI systems. Build a more reliable public description of the real hotel.
Keep the website readable and discoverable.
Useful content must also be accessible. Review page access, internal links and whether important information exists as readable text. Any structured data should describe what people can actually see on the page.
For Google AI features, normal SEO foundations still apply. Google says no special AI schema or AI text file is required, and meeting its requirements does not guarantee inclusion. Read Google's AI search guidance.
Keep checking the same questions.
Save a baseline, make the agreed improvements and check the relevant questions again. Record the date, language, market and method so the comparison has context. AI answers can change, and different guests may see different results.
An API/model check is not automatically the same as a test inside a consumer app. Your report should make that distinction clear instead of treating every result as one universal ranking.
Four different signals
A citation is not a booking. Measure the steps between them.
- MentionThe hotel is named.
- RecommendationThe hotel is suggested for the trip.
- CitationA source link supports an answer.
- Guest actionA measured visit or enquiry follows. Not attributable one-to-one
Keep these signals separate. Website analytics can add context where referrals and events are recorded, but they cannot see every exposure or prove that a particular AI answer caused a reservation.
A decision you can use
What should the managed GEO plan improve first?
Prioritise the gap that blocks a relevant guest decision and has a source the team can strengthen.
Managed hotel GEO priority guide
| Finding | Evidence | Action | Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel absent from a relevant trip shortlist | Prompt, surface and competing cited sources | Add specific, verified reasons the hotel fits the trip | Repeat the question and review website discovery |
| Hotel named but not recommended | Answer wording and missing decision details | Strengthen the useful room, location or experience evidence | Compare later recommendation observations |
| Wrong hotel fact repeated | Answer excerpt and originating public sources | Correct hotel-controlled facts and request external corrections | Track source consistency and dated answers |
| Useful competitor source is cited | Information the cited page provides | Create a clearer original answer where the hotel has evidence | Review citations, visits and enquiries separately |
A changed answer is a useful observation, not proof that one edit caused a booking.

Questions hotels ask
What else should you know?
The practical details, the limits and the next step.
What is generative engine optimization for hotels?
It is the work of improving how a hotel is understood, cited and recommended in AI-assisted travel research by connecting real guest questions to clear, verifiable public sources.
Is ely's hotel GEO service managed for us?
Yes — it is part of Visibility, in the pilot rollout. ely's team runs the question research, evidence review, source-improvement plan and monthly repeat checks. Your hotel confirms facts and reviews changes.
Can our hotel see what ely is doing?
The intended experience keeps questions, evidence, work items and later observations visible. Your team can follow progress and ask ely about the work.
What is the difference between mentioned, recommended and cited?
Mentioned means the hotel is named, recommended means it is suggested for the trip, and cited means an answer includes a source link. ely reviews them separately.
How does GEO relate to hotel SEO?
They share foundations: crawlable pages, useful original content, accurate facts and clear links. GEO adds direct review of AI-assisted questions, answers and citation evidence.
Does ely need special AI schema or an llms.txt file?
Google says ordinary search requirements and best practices apply to its AI features; no special AI schema is required. No file can force an AI platform to cite a hotel.
Can managed GEO guarantee bookings or citations?
No. ely can manage the work and report observations, but platforms control their answers and source selection. Website activity and bookings must be evaluated with their own evidence.
Where is this guide relevant?
This guidance is relevant to hotels in the Philippines, Australia and Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. If you are considering ely, the country list is a review scope rather than a blanket claim that every local route or channel is operational; setup and local requirements are confirmed before launch.
